The Dominican Cigar is Here to Stay

Have you smoked a Dominican cigar?

If you are a cigar aficionado residing in the United States, the answer is probably "yes".

Half of the cigars smoked in the U.S. are from the Dominican Republic. That's a lot of cigars.

Most of the cigar tobacco grown in the Dominican Republic comes from the Cibao River Valley.

The Cuban seed tobacco, combined with the skilled craftsmanship of Cuban-trained individuals, combines to make a cigar good enough to go toe to toe with Cuba's best.

Just because a cigar factory is located in the Dominican Republic doesn't mean that the cigars produced are all from Dominican tobacco. As in many factories, a combination of long leaf tobacco from other countries can be used to produce complex cigars sure to please even the most serious cigar connoisseur.

Having said that, the Dominican Republic certainly does produce many a cigar that are puros.

this was made possible by Carlos Fuente's determination to successfully grow wrapper, which in the past had been unsuccessful. Many followed suit after Carlos paved the way.

Now a Domincan cigar factory can have all Dominican filler and a Dominican grown wrapper also!

All this talk about cigars makes me want to light one up. Will you join me?
